NAPFAGreetings.
NAPFA is coming just round the corner! I am sure that all of you can pass de(: Have FAITH! Keep the fighting spirit in you, especially for the 2.4km run!! Keep telling yourself 'I can do it. can do it. I can do it.' Still worried about NAPFA? 'Fraid not! Cause..here are some interesting tips i have found over the net. Hope that it'll help(:
2.4km Walk-Run'Golden rules' that you should bear in mind:
1. Although it is called the 2.4km Walk-Run test, you are most likely not going to make it if you happen to stop running and start walking!
2. Everyone has a different level of fitness. Understand (and accept) your own fitness level! Don’t dash right at the start just because everyone else is doing so! You don’t have to stick close to the “herd” because after a couple of minutes, the “herd” will be dispersed anyway!
3. Begin with an above average jogging pace (absolutely no way you can slow jog because this is an aerobic endurance test).
4. Think of picking up speed very, very gradually.
Shuttle RunThis station requires a burst and accelerate quickly and powerfully, and then to decelerate quickly towards the pick-up point. You might wonder...how am i supposed to sprint like that? Well, your arm movement is very important. It dictates the movement of your legs. In order words, our arms move to propel your legs. (pss..trying sprinting with your arm crossed. You will know what i mean)
Tips for acceleration:
1. Start with smaller stride lengths and then increase gradually.
2. At the start of the acceleration, the entire body is like leaning at about 45 degrees forward, forming a straight line from the head to the foot that is in contact with the ground.
3. Body will return to an upright position as you attain faster speed.
4. Strike the ground with the ball of your feet as you land, not the heels.
Tips for a speedy turn:
1. Rotate torso powerfully to turn body back and face the next turning/ending point.
2. Cross over hind leg as you turn your body.
3. Keep body leaning forward so that you can explode into acceleration mode as quick as possible.
I have posted tips for only 2.4km Run-Walk and Shuttle Run. This is becuase it is usually the 'toughest' for most girls. However, if you have problem with other stations, DO email me at
